Some places do not feel new when you arrive. They feel remembered. A landscape, a culture, a way of being in the world that your body recognizes before your mind can explain it. The Ceiba tree, sacred to the ancient Maya, was understood as the axis of the world, its roots reaching into the underworld, its canopy touching the heavens, its trunk the living passage between. Standing among them here, that image does not feel like mythology. It feels like memory. This painting emerged from that experience, a quiet conversation between past and present, place and spirit, the self we know and the one we are still becoming.

We each carry a temple within us. Ancient, intimate, shaped by lifetimes of experience and soul wisdom. Not everyone is meant to enter. Some doors remain closed not out of fear but out of reverence for what is most true and most vulnerable inside us. The Maya built their temples accordingly, layered, protected, accessible only to those prepared to receive what lived inside. This painting is an invitation to consider your own inner architecture. What you protect, what you carry, what travels with you across time. And what it means to be both rooted and in motion, tethered to something deeper even as you move between worlds.
