Balance is often imagined as a place where opposing forces become still or equal. But perhaps balance is something more dynamic. There are times when we need to act, protect what matters, and move forward. Other times, the wiser response is to listen, yield, and allow something to unfold.
Our ancestors understood this kind of attention. They watched the natural world closely, learning when to act and when to wait. Observation was not simply appreciation. It was knowledge.
This painting is a reflection on the opposing energies we carry within ourselves. We often want to resolve them, to decide which side is right or which direction to take. But perhaps some things aren't meant to be resolved. Perhaps they are meant to be held.
Maybe balance is learning to move with both, to know when to act and when to listen, when to hold on and when to let go.
